Overview

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is the official national governing and promotional body responsible for driving international tourism and infrastructure visibility for Belize. Their official website serves as a digital hub for travel planning, delivering information to international visitors on destinations, activities, cultural experiences, and travel logistics.

Challenge

The Travel Belize’s digital platform suffered from operational bottlenecks and conversion friction that restricted traveler acquisition metrics.

Our approach

Attico’s team has built and maintained an AI chatbot for travel planning on the Travel Belize website. The chatbot has the following key features:

Implementation highlights

To back our architectural framework, Attico implemented precise technical workflows to ensure robust deployment and accurate real-time data streaming:

  • Flight search integration: The AI chatbot integrates with a flight search service, Kiwi, allowing users to search for flights by simply entering dates or departure cities. The bot sets Belize as a static default destination to query real-time ticketing APIs for instantaneous pricing matrices and direct deep-booking hyperlinks.
  • Smart information retrieval: AI travel chatbots use LLMs to understand intent, context, constraints, and follow-up questions, and employ agentic AI to perform multistep actions. We deployed advanced algorithms to analyze unstructured queries and provide instantaneous answers on weather conditions, geographic activities, and travel planning.
  • Context awareness: The solution leverages conversation history to ensure that the chatbot retains context and delivers accurate information and contextually relevant responses.

Tech insights

The chatbot was built with Python, and its backend orchestration is entirely deployed on AWS. It uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI models and the Voiceflow platform, which handles the conversation flow design and integrates with our AWS backend.
