The client is a division of an international healthcare corporation and a major player in the infant nutrition market. The company provides expert nutrition support to parents of children from ages 0 to 36 months and parents-to-be. It works with healthcare professionals, including physicians, dietitians, nutritionists, and nurses.
Before COVID, a major global nutrition company used traditional healthcare marketing — offline seminars, symposia, journals, and awards — to engage HCPs. COVID disrupted these channels, making the organization reimagine the model by moving HCP education and seminars online. They started with online courses, but it had significant limitations:
The client engaged Attico to migrate from their existing online learning solution to a more scalable and integrated LMS. We translated the client’s HCP communications requirements into an LMS setup that could support scalable education, certification, and engagement, using Opigno — a tailored Drupal-based LMS — as the platform foundation.
Attico implemented an Opigno LMS Drupal solution that transformed fragmented training mechanics into an integrated HCP academy layer within the client’s digital ecosystem. This included:
Our team helped the organization move from offline-first HCP communications to a scalable hybrid engagement model, where webinars, training, testing, certification, and follow-up communications became part of a connected academy journey.
The platform was built on Drupal with Opigno as the LMS foundation. This gave the client’s organization ready-to-use academy functionality while preserving room for custom workflows, integrations, access rules, and future market-specific extensions within a controlled HCLS environment. Opigno was selected as a result of the LMS audit project.
The LMS connected the post-webinar HCP journey into one controlled flow: training registration, access to materials, training content, test completion, automatic certificate generation, certificate display in the HCP’s personal account, and follow-up communication triggers. This created the technical basis for inviting HCPs to the next webinar or academy activity based on previous participation.
The website and LMS were not used as the live webinar streaming engine. Large webinars with up to 12,000 registered participants were handled on a dedicated external webinar platform, while the brand-holder’s site managed registration, access points, and post-event materials. This separated high-load live streaming from the controlled academy and certification layer.
The LMS was designed to work inside the client’s broader communications and data ecosystem. Drupal modules and custom integrations supported connections with tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Service Cloud, Google Analytics, Azure AD, and SSO flows, depending on the required use case and data exchange logic.
Where standard Drupal functionality was not sufficient, custom modules supported the client’s specific integration needs, including profile data synchronization, dashboard integration, external widgets, API-based connections with other websites, and user data exchange between the Learning Center and the client’s wider digital ecosystem.
User management and access rights were coordinated through Opigno’s admin panel, with RBAC logic aligned to external identity systems such as Azure AD. This helped keep account access, learning permissions, and academy administration manageable across different user groups and platform touchpoints.
REST API capabilities allowed academy data to be exchanged with mobile apps and other external services. This gave the client more flexibility to connect learning activity with future omnichannel use cases, where LMS activity, HCP profiles, learning progress, and follow-up communications could be connected across channels.
