SigmaCamp is a US-based educational organization that provides science-focused programs for middle and high school students aged 12–17 years old. Not only students from the United States but also from Canada, South America, and Europe come to SigmaCamp programs to make new friends and learn new things.
Their summer camps offer students the opportunity to learn math, technology, engineering, and science from professors and researchers from the world’s best universities, including MIT, Yale, Stony Brook University, Princeton, and Stanford. In addition to the academic program, they have a diverse sports, music, and art program.
SigmaCamp is a nonprofit organization supported by donations from sponsors.
SigmaCamp’s Drupal 7 website had become outdated and difficult to manage, requiring a full migration to Drupal 10 with improved functionality and design ahead of the new camp season. The migration process required careful coordination to keep data flowing smoothly and avoid disrupting key user-facing features. This created the following challenges:
The migration had to be completed before the start of the summer camp season and the opening of participant registration.
The opening of POM registration coincided with the data migration process, creating a risk of overlap or data loss.
Registration had to be temporarily paused during migration and restored afterward without affecting app collection.
POM migration was added after the discovery phase, increasing project complexity within an already tight timeline.

Our team identified and resolved multiple platform issues, including custom PHP page-type nodes, 250 hard-to-manage webforms, inconsistent camp structures, and SEO-related 404 errors. The new architecture introduced standardized content management, reusable camp setup, and improved SEO configuration.

This integration enabled more flexible content structuring and faster page assembly without the need to write additional code for each new block. The platform also provides an API and layout discovery mechanism, allowing themes and modules to suggest new templates.
Reusable camp deployment architecture
Our professionals designed a reusable architecture for creating camps. This eliminates the need for clients to create camps from scratch each time. An existing configuration can be quickly cloned and adapted for new tasks. This approach significantly speeds up the launch of new camps and reduces the need for technical intervention.
CI/CD pipeline migration and release implementation
We migrated the project from GitLab to GitHub at the client’s request, set up CI/CD via GitHub Actions, and adapted the release process. We also prepared a step-by-step deployment video to support the transition. The client’s team now has a fully functional delivery and release process on the new platform without disruptions or loss of speed.
Infrastructure monitoring and observability setup
The Attico’s team set up infrastructure monitoring using Grafana, tracking key metrics such as server load, CPU and memory usage, backups, and SSL certificates. The system automatically sends email alerts to the client, enabling a quick response to potential problems.
Email delivery infrastructure optimization
We’ve configured Mailgun, an external service, to handle all outgoing emails. This has made email delivery more stable and reliable, reduced the risk of lost messages, and improved the quality of notifications sent to users.
